100 Things about Me
I actually finished this 2 days ago but kept forgetting to mail it to myself at home.
- I lived 1/2 block from the beach for most of my childhood.
- I don't swim well.
- My hair is naturally
unrulycurly. - The red is from my wonderful colorist/stylist, but it works well on me.
- Better than the blonde highlights I had for the wedding.
- I let my colorist/stylist do whatever she wants to my hair because it's not permanent and my hair grows fast.
- I didn't get my drivers license until I was almost 21.
- I got it so I could buy beer in college.
- I failed the first time (when I was ~16) because I don't really see out of my right eye.
- I left in tears and vowed never to go back.
- I think that's the first time that I was every really aware that my vision was different from everyone else's.
- I kept the doctor's note (which I had to present when I went to get my license the next time) about my eyes in my car for a couple of years.
- I only wear one contact. In my "good" eye.
- But the lenses in my glasses are almost the same Rx.
- My contact prescription is -11 diopters.
- I only see a dark spot in the middle of a white spot with my other eye (that's the big "E").
- Please don't rearrange the room while I'm sleeping or I'm almost guaranteed to walk into something in the middle of the night.
- Note to self: That applies to you too. See bruise now appearing above left kneecap from trip to guest bedroom in the middle of the night.
- I bite my nails when I'm stressed.
- I have acrylic nails so I can't bite them.
- My parents divorced when I was really young.
- They both remarried really cool people.
- I have one brother, 3 step-brothers and 2 step-sisters.
- They're all back east.
- My mom and step-father didn't come to my wedding.
- My dad and step-mom did. We had a great time.
- I lived in NJ for most of my life, but I don't live there now.
- I love Colorado.
- I moved back to NJ once after I moved away.
- My drivers license didn't even expire (they were were good for around 4 years).
- I lived in an apartment that was 470 sq ft.
- With Brad (for ~3 months).
- We got through that just fine. We even had 2 computers set up in there.
- I love cats.
- I'm allergic to them.
- I take allergy medicine and get shots so I can live with them.
- I didn't have bad allergies until I was in my early 20s.
- I have mild asthma too.
- I'm allergic to a lot of things so I'd be getting shots anyway.
- I love old movies.
- Especially with Audrey Hepburn, Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Spencer Tracy (to name a few) in them.
- I love IMDb.
- I never thought I'd really be happy about driving a truck.
- But I am.
- 4WD and muddy dirt roads are a much better combo than FWD and a crappy little car.
- I have 2 sets of names. One is my Hebrew name.
- Brad and I got married outside in a beautiful garden.
- We were married by Revs. Linda and Earl Heflinger.
- It was a really cool (non-denominational) service.
- At our wedding, I put the ring on my husband's wrong hand.
- We laughed about it as we walked down the aisle.
- I'm a long time Unix geek.
- I use vi and am happy about it.
- My manager hits "ESC" a lot when he's in vi just to bug me.

- My husband is a Windows geek.
- He tells people he married me anyway.
- I'm not a phone person.
- But I'm pretty good with email.
- I'm a very light sleeper.
- I sleep best in a pitch black room.
- We keep the blinds up because Katya plays with them.
- I wear a sleeping mask.
- Having the radio on (softly) helps me fall back asleep.
- I'm very sensitive to scents.
- The smell of lilacs makes me ill.
- I have tissue boxes in almost all of the rooms in our house (and in our cars).
- I don't know how I ever managed before I got a Palm Pilot.
- I have a really good memory.
- The Palm helps anyway.

- I learned to drive in a VW Rabbit and VW Bus.
- I think the first time I drove an automatic was in drivers ed.
- My best friend taught me how to parallel park and k-turn.
- There were required for the NJ drivers test.
I hadn't driven a RWD car until Brad and I drove his car out from MI.Brad's Firebird was actually the second vehicle I'd driven with RWD. Thank you, friendly reminder man!- In a blizzard. In Nebraska.
- I didn't drive in the blizzard.
- I would do almost anything for my friends.
- I wish some of them lived closer though.
- Brad hates the radio (except for talk stations).
- I listen to KBCO every morning on my drive to work.
- I didn't like my middle name growing up.
- I always sign my name with my middle initial.
- I saw the Who in concert.
- In 1982. In Philly.
- I love to read.
- I have for as long as I can remember.
- What I've read so far this year.
- I'm an atheist.
- Both of my parents are Jewish. Non-practicing. Both of my step-parents aren't Jewish.

- Being Jewish to me was always about the culture, not the religion.
- I pay for shareware and believe in supporting the people who write cool software.
- I like different types of food: Thai, Indian, Japanese, Chinese. My husband doesn't (he likes some Japanese dishes though).
- I've met a lot of cool people from IRC.
- I married one of them.
- Brad told me that he always said he wouldn't get married until he was 35. He said I was 35 so it was close enough.
- I write letters in my head that are never sent. I "write" to my grandmother (who passed away Nov. '98) all the time.
- Most days, I wear a cigar band ring that my grandmother gave me on a chain that my grandfather gave her.
- We were married the same weekend (Memorial Day weekend) as my grandparents.
- I'm done and I'm posting this before I tweak it any more.

< ? 100 Things # >

I fixed you up. :-)
cool, Lisa! Aren't those things harder to do than you thought? Or, at least that's what I found...like, I could get on a roll, and then completely go blank...and then a roll, and then blank....lol.
Thanks for posting, it's always fun to learn more about people that you read about!
Oh, man, you saw The Who live? I only saw a lame-o live video concert of them in 1983. But I did see Dylan live, and Talking Heads and J.Geils and Go-Go's...and (best of all) The Ramones, opening for Cheap Trick. *sigh* I haven't seen a live concert since 1985...
Solonor: I think the only other concert I saw back then was Joe Jackson (Oct '82 - nope, I didn't remember that, I googled). We walked a couple of miles to Lehigh campus to see him. I've been to a few more concerts then. Most notably, Tori Amos, Santana and Dream Theater.
Jen: Yes! I'd always think of things in totally inappropriate places (shower, driving, falling asleep).
lisa, nice work on the 100-things... i know they're difficult to do. i started one a few months back, got to number 7 and thought to myself, "this couldn't suck any worse".
and it's still at #7. i did do an 'about' page with essentially the exact same type of info on it, but somehow having that criteria of doing 100 things paralyzed me.
then again, i have trouble with telling my left from my right, so whaddaya expect?
in any case, nice job! i feel i 'know' you a little more than just from your blog posts now!
:^)
Great list... nice to know there are other people out there who love vi.
#98 -- Very sweet!
Your cats love you for taking shots.
Very nice! I am a cat lover myself! and I love to read! Good Job!
enjoyed the read - thanks!
