Soon to be MIA

| daily misc | | Comments (0)

Starting tomorrow around 7:30am, we (the development team I'm on, not the royal we) will be preparing for a major release of the company's web site and back end code.

I'm in charge of merging all of the new development code back into the current line of development. Then we build this out to our development server and if it looks good, to our test server where it stays all night and gets tested by the QA department. I'm going to have to stay until QA is comfortable with the build, but I should be able to get home in time for Thursday TV.

Then on Friday, we start to move the code to production (we're also doing a database server upgrade, but that's another story). We can't until the phone support lines are closed, so nothing starts until 7pm. I have the 2pm until midnight (or later) shift. Plus I'm on call to help if something goes awry.

Exciting stuff, eh?

Right now, I have a few things to blog about in the queue, but I don't really have the energy at the moment. I have a ton of photos to upload, but I'm not doing that tonight either. I'm about ready to grab my book and read for a little bit with the cats.

So, I ask you, is there anything you want to know about me? I reserve the right not to answer anything too personal or too specific about work. smile
