Fire - close to home
A fire started last night near a subdivision north east of Kiowa (Kiowa is about an 18 mile drive from here). The fire isn't out yet. I can smell the smoke (which is waking up my asthma today).
"Firefighters worked through the night trying to stomp out a fast-moving grassfire that has consumed two homes and around 30 acres in Elbert County. The fire is burning in the Chapparal subdivision, between Strausberg and Kiowa."
From 9News. There isn't anything about it on the Colorado Wildfires site.
Update: The fire is out! Two homes were lost. The link above goes to the "fire is out" story.

I feel so sorry for everyone who has been affected by wildfires this summer. I can't imagine how awful it would be to lose everything. :-(
BeerMary - me either! We donated a lot to the firefighters this year. A few people I work with were in the danger zone from the early season fires, but thankfully they were all safe. We spent some time at work talking about what we'd load up in our cars if we had a few hours warning. It was interesting to hear what people decided was most important to them.
