Walking
Two friends and I signed up for the "Step It Up!" program (from Go! Fitness Solutions). The idea is to wear a pedometer for 6 weeks and try to increase the number of steps you take a day.
My average number of steps before starting the program was 35805 steps per week. That's about 14 miles.
The first week of the program I walked 39857 steps - a little more than 15.5 miles.
This week I'm up to 21889 22049 and that's since Monday.
G and I walk about the same number of steps during the day but when she goes home, she zooms around her house. She ends up with an average of 10,000 steps per day.
I'm still happy with how I'm doing even though she's kicking my butt. When we get back from vacation I'm intending to get some regular exercise (more than the walking). I'll keep you posted!
