Monday Mission 2.48

First, happy birthday, Monday Mission!

I've been pretty slack about MMs for the past two weeks. Chalk it up to the dreaded cold.

1. Suppose God (or your deity of choice) grants you one miracle. Consider the world in which we live. Consider your life and family. What would you request for this miracle? Are you sure that is the best way to use it? You only get one. I don't believe in god or a higher power. If I had a freebie, I'd like the economy to turn around already. Yeah, I'm not really thinking small, eh?

2. Have you ever had an experience where you truly believe your prayer was answered? If you don't believe in such things, how come? What is your philosophy on prayer? Nope. I don't believe that there's someone "out there" looking out for us. I don't pray for people, but I keep them in my thoughts. If someone else is comforted by prayer and they don't try to convert me, then they should pray. I don't think it'll help things though.

3. Have you ever lost a pet? That is, have you ever had a pet get loose, run away or be stolen? Did you get it back? How did the loss impact your life? I've only really had one pet get lost. She belonged to my ex and me, but when we split up, he kept her. He had moved and had some friends over when she got out of the apartment (she was an indoor kitty). He never found her. I was sad but hoped that a nice person found her and took her in. She was a sweet kitty.

4. What is your favorite holiday food? Cranberry relish. Or banana chocolate chip bread. Or orange-cranberry bread. Or sweet potatoes. Pick one. smile

5. Are there are dishes or desserts that someone in your family fixes better than anyone else? My grandma used to make the most fantastic roast beef with mushrooms and onions. No one got the recipe before she died though.

6. Do you have any siblings with children? How does it make you feel to be an Aunt or an Uncle? If not, would you like to be have nieces and nephews? Would you make a good relative to them? Well, from the following people—one full brother (same parents), a stepbrother from my stepmom, 2 stepbrothers and a stepsister from my stepfather—only my stepsister has kids (currently - my brother and his wife are expecting). I think I'd be a great aunt. Unfortunately, my stepfather's kids and I aren't very close (though we were when we were growing up). My brother and I aren't close at all, but I'm pretty sure I'll go out when their baby is born.

7. I am putting together a CD of great holiday music. Do you have any suggestions of what songs (title/artist) I should include? I really need to go get some Christmas music. The thing is... they have an awful lot of country Christmas music around here and that just isn't my thing. I have "Swing 'n' Jive Christmas" CD that I like. I also like the R&B/Soul Christmas music I've heard. Now you've done it. I just ordered a bunch of Christmas music from amazon! wink
