Social engagement
We're off to my team's holiday party. There will be booze, finger food and a bunch of drunk/buzzed people participating in a White Elephant Exchange (which was a riot last year).
White Elephant Exchange:
- each person brings a $0-10 gift wrapped
- each person who brought a gift is given a number from 1 to # of gifts
Rules:
The person with #1 gets to pick a gift from the pile.
Person #2 can steal #1's gift or open a brand new gift.
Person #3 can steal #1's or #2's gift or open a brand new gift.
Continue until all people have a present.
Additional rules:
- You can't take a gift from someone who just took it from you in the same round. ie, if #2 took #1s gift, #1 can't take it back and must pick a new gift from the pile.
- No teaming up with your friend/spouse/partner/etc to get something that you really want. You have to get it yourself.
- Gifts of random stuff from around your house are fine, but it's good if a few people get decent gifts. There's more stealing that way.
Have a fun night!

Here in New England, we call this kind of thing a *Yankee Swap*, but it's the same idea. I have participated in a few of these, and it's a lot of fun!
Enjoy! Have a great weekend! :-)
