I think cats should come with a snooze button.
My cat is "programmed" to expect me to get up at 5:30am. So around that time, she starts stirring. She gets up and walks around. Then she wanders over to the scratching post, stretches, and scratches a little bit. If I don't look like I'm getting up, then she comes over to see what I'm doing and starts talking to me.
It's cute but a little frustrating as I do not get up at 5:30 on the weekends. At least she lets me sleep in (or I just ignore her until I fall back asleep so it works out the same).

Oh that is so true! Portley Skortley wanted to be up at 5:30 today. So she decided that I needed to get up to.
Devon is a bit better, though she thinks 8 is late enough to sleep in. Her prefered method of waking me up is jumping in the middle of my back. Nothing like being scared out of a good dream to wake you up!
At 6:15 am every morning my cat [who weighs a good 20 lbs] likes to stick her ass in my face and then stand on my chest. Slumber waits for no cat.
Nicole speaketh the truth. The cats are our masters, we are merely here to serve...
I guess I'm grateful that I don't get stood on or jumped on as part of our morning ritual.
The cats always seem to want to get up a half hour before I want to, no matter when that is.
And one of them always demands food an hour before his evening feeding, no matter when that is...
Oh, I can so understand!!! My cat wakes me up EVERY morning around 4! Do I get up at 4?? No! He doesn't care!! lol
My cat used to hit me when I didn't wake up by nine at the latest on the weekends. He'd hit me, sit on my head, then he'd go down to the end of the bed and bite my feet. Gromit needs a snooze button too. He's much stronger and heavier than the cat.
