Weekly Wrap-Up #43 - When You're Sick
1. How often do you get sick? Are there particular times of the year when this happens? If so, when? I've had a really bad 6 months or so (due to my allergies, not actual cold/flu sicknesses). Normally, I don't get sick more than a handful of times a year. It usually happens during times of high stress combined with weather changes.
2. Do you go to the doctor when you're sick? Why or why not? I do most of the time. Since I can tell when it's allergies vs a cold, then I usually wait a little longer and see if my allergies stop bugging me. When it's not allergies, I'm pretty good about getting myself to the doctor. I don't like being sick and don't want it to last any longer than required.
3. What comfort things and/or foods do you seek out when you're sick? Why? I like to drink hot tea and eat oatmeal. Oatmeal is a big comfort food for me. Tea is soothing and doesn't have caffeine (at least the kind I drink) and it usually helps with any nose or throat symptoms. Oatmeal is warm and filling and easy on irritated throats. Mine anyway.
4. Do you take medication (prescription or over-the-counter) when you're sick? Why or why not? Yup, if it's cold/flu meds, I just add it in with my regular morning allergy meds.
5. How long do you stay typically stay sick? Do you stay home or do you go out and/or work? Why or why not? Colds usually last about 2-3 days for me though I'll keep the cough or the sniffles for a little longer. I'd rather stay home and sleep of any illness than go to work and get everyone else sick, but there are times (deadlines, etc) when I go to work anyway. The nice thing now is that I could work from home if I needed to.
