Big decisions

[Editor's note: I had a hard time deciding if I was going to post this. The two decisions seem like we decided #1 so we could do #2, but that's just not it. I've been thinking about the Ed and Stewie situation for over a year now (it was really brought on by Ed's traumatic hospital stay).]

[Brad's post]

Decision 1:
Brad and I had to make a hard decision recently. We've decided to re-home Ed and Stewie. This wasn't decided lightly. We love those guys, but they really need a family who can deal with their Devon-y selves and not act like crazy overprotective parents (ok, it's me, I'm the crazy one). The list of reasons is long but the most important one is that we think a new home will improve their quality of life and because we love them, we will find them a new home.

We'll both miss them a lot, but this is the right thing to do.

Decision 2: This one is in no way related to Decision 1 above. We (ok, I) have decided to get a dog. I know I know. Crazy. I "blame" it on Cis... if she wasn't always posting such fantastic pictures of Fred(*), I might not have succumbed. To be honest, I'd been looking at people's dogs much more often than ever before. Which is really funny because the only time I've ever lived with a dog before was when I was a kid. But I'm ready to make this commitment and Brad's going along for the ride (he thinks I'm crazy but he always thinks that anyway).

Brad and I both love animals and even with my crappy allergies, I just wouldn't want to live without them.

Note: I actually do not hold anyone but myself responsible for this decision.

I can imagine that making the decision to find a new home for Ed and Stewie has been a difficult one, and I really respect the fact that you care enough to look after the best interests of the cats.

I've found myself tempted by the thought of getting a small dog after seeing so many cute Fred pics. I had always thought I'd prefer a larger dog. Of course, I wasn't crazy about cats until just a few months ago. I guess I'm ever evolving.

Oh new puppies are the most fantastic things in the world. So. Much. Fun. And work of course but the work is completely over shadowed by the fun.

sorry to hear about Ed and Stewie, Lisa. I know that is a tough decision, but it is for the best.

Dogs can be a lot of fun!
