Calling all people who use RSS readers
Ok, I know how I read blogs and I know how Brad does.
He reads everything in NewzCrawler and doesn't often visit sites.
I use NewzCrawler to find out that someone's updated. Then I double click on the oldest new entry and read from their site. That way I get to see everyone's blogs regularly. [Note: it's really helpful to have next and previous links on your individual archive entries.]
So, how do you use your RSS reader?

I am starting to use mine like Brad does. I hope that everyone has a full RSS feed (like yours and mine), I read their posts when I get the update, and if it catches my attention - I go to the site and comment. Otherwise, I just go on to my next new feed in the reader.
I am becoming the RSS Evangelist. I e-mailed over 20 people today because they only have excerpts for their feeds or no feed at all. Hopefully some of them will convert.
I looooooove RSS! This will definitely save my sanity! (And allow me to stay on top of my blog reads!)
I find RSS most useful for news sites. Like I love that BBC and CNet have live feeds. It does help me keep up on some of the blogs I read too. The thing I find myself wanting the most is for more of the news sites out there to support it. A lot of people have no clue what it is though
. And it isn't that easy to get set up if you are using a system that doesn't have support for it already.
I just started using an RSS feeder. I pretty much use it to check for updates. Since the program I use can whisk me to the comments page of the post I'm looking at I can still visit sites and comment, email, etc.
Of course, not everyone uses RSS (grumble, blogger, grumble), so I still have to check up on things occasionally.
I just download it and trying to figure it out, how do I find the blogs that I usual read? do I have to add them myself? BTW, I wanted to copy and paste your RSS 2.0 for mine but when I try to copy your section I end up copying your entire page, could you please email it to me.
So far it looks like I might end up buying it, much better than surfing through it all! Thanks!!
Hello!, I came across your page from Tracy's blogroll over at About Damn Time.
I find it somewhat amusing that despite the fact that I publish three separate feeds, I actually don't use a news reader. I just compulsively click the links in my blogroll all day long. There's something oddly satisfying about it.
I will read the first updated post, and if there is a link I'll go to the site and read from there, or I'll visit to post a comment. My husband has been using his aggregator for a long time now and is the one who introduced me to it. Its definitely a great way to stay updated.
I use NewzCrawler to tell me who's updated and scan through their posts. Most people don't have their full posts in the feed, so if it's an interesting topic, I'll still go to the site. And I still surf the old-fashioned way a lot, too. There are still people that don't even ping weblogs (or blogrolling)...
I'm kind of with Samuel on this one, but I might change, provided I could get NewzCrawler to sing and dance like I want.
I use RSS almost exclusively. I wish everyone had a full RSS feed. I'm glad you do.
