did it work? i just downloaded it today and i am really impressed. haven't posted really, but the interface is great.
Worked like a charm. I just linked to his post and it pinged him!
oh cool, but where do you put in the link? am i blind, i just don't see the spot for it like on the MT form. Or does it just ping based on the url's you put into the text?
Based on the URLs in the body of the post.
There are two possible missing pieces of the puzzle if this doesn't work for you:
1. Check the blog config for your blog, and make sure that automatic trackback is enabled (Manage Blog > Weblog Config > Preferences > check the box marked "Turn on TrackBack auto-discovery?").
2. Make sure the blog you want to auto-ping supports it by having the proper trackback information in the content of the post. If you look at the post Lisa linked to me, and do a View Source, you'll see a comment block that has some XML in it that starts with rdf:RDF. This is the piece that needs to be there for automatic discovery. When you link to the post, Movable Type downloads the HTML, and then looks for this buried piece of RDF XML to tell it how to trackback to your post automatically.
Note that #2 should be done for any of the default MT templates. If you've customized your MT template and perhaps removed this RDF block, not knowing what it was, you could just create a new temporary blog to get the pieces out of the default templates.
Once all of this is done, MT will auto-trackback when you post from within MT's web interface, as well as with external posting tools like Zempt.
Have fun!
Brad
If you are looking for a place to enter trackback ping URLs for an entry, hit the Post Options button.
The window that opens up lets you set some of the less-commonly set entry options and includes a place to enter Trackback URLs.
