A loss that didn't have to be...

| daily misc | | Comments (13)

Robyn shut down her blog. She'll be back for the Boobiethon because she committed to do it. But otherwise, she's gone.

Now, some of you don't care. Some of you are probably cheering. But I will miss her.

Ain't too proud to blog - goodbye.

This is very unfortunate. I was a lurker on Robyn's blog, but I will miss reading her each day. I'm especially pissed at how the "contest" that seems to have precipitated this was handled, especially after a confidential request of Robyn's to be removed was made public. Disgraceful.

What happened? Was she overrun by moronic trolls (as is usually the case)

Because her blog is so popular, she gets more than her share of trolls, etc. This was really the culmination of a lot of things and she just decided that she was over all of the drama and stress. I don't blame her one bit, but I will miss her.

Hey! You are supposed to give us warning when delivering such bad news! And, it is received better when sandwiched between two pieces of good news.

No doubt a wise move on her part and I certainly will miss her.

It is to the credit of The Feminine Blogosphere that you give us the benefit of your voices despite the presence of trolls, perverts, etc.

Bah, sorry to see her go sad
Maybe she'll be back?

That's too bad that they drove her to close her site. I always liked it and I'm sad to see her go.

I'd really love to take the trolls out back and beat them with a stick.

I'm sorry to hear that. I may not have read her blog as much as I used to (multiple times a day wink ), but I still really enjoyed stopping by every few days.

I will miss her and her blog.

This is going to happen more and more, until we as a blogosphere decide to unite and stand up to trolls and asshats.

The solution is one of:

1. Force people to register to post comments
2. Pre-screen (moderate) comments
3. Don't offer comments at all

I'll be honest, I've been sitting on this fence for a long time (even though I have nowhere near the problem that Robyn had), and option #3 was looking pretty good to me.
