Weekly Wrap-Up #78 - Driving

Driving

1. Do you enjoy driving? Why or why not? I do for the most part, but I don't mind sharing driving responsibilities. And it's much more fun to drive if it's a manual transmission. I'm not sure what I like about driving, but part of it is being in control.

2. Have you ever been pulled over for speeding? What happened as a result of the incident? Nope. I got pulled over for having expired plates on my car and didn't get a ticket because I'd just come from picking up the plates and they were on the passenger seat of the car waiting for me to get home where there were screwdrivers.

3. Would you ever consider a job that was based on driving (e.g., courier, pizza delivery driver)? Why or why not? Nah, I'd rather drive for longer periods of time than short trips. Besides that's hard on your car.

4. What is your driving environment like? Do you listen to the radio while driving? Do you eat while behind the wheel? I listen to the radio or CDs. I like to have nothing on the dashboard (I hate reflections of stuff on the windshield). I usually don't talk on my cell phone. For the most part I don't eat behind the wheel either.

5. How would you handle losing your driver's license for a short period (say six months)? That would be incredibly hard on me considering that we live 15-20 miles from everything. Plus I like my independence. Hell, it would be hard on me if we only had 1 car for 6 months. wink

I'm the same way about transmissions. There's just something about a manual transmission... You have way more control. smile

It's simple, really. Manual transmissions give you individual control over both torque and acceleration, which automatic transmissions do not. Judicious selection allows much better control, especially in dangerous situations like heavy rain or snow.
