So I called Washington Mutual today to find out the balance of our second mortgage. The reason I used the phone and not the web is because I don't have our account number anywhere. The money comes directly out of my checking account so we don't have a payment book and I haven't been able to locate the paperwork in forever.
Anyway, after being transferred twice, I talked to someone who gave me our account balance. I explained to her (before she gave me the balance) that I didn't have the loan number and could she give it to me. Well, they're not allowed to give that info over the phone. But I could get it from the web site or by visiting a branch. So I asked her if I'd need the loan number to sign up for a login on their site. Nope, it uses personal information.
Well, guess what. I signed up aok, but I can't look at my mortgage because... yup, I don't know the loan number.
I'll stop by the branch on Monday, but even so, what a pain in the butt. She should have just said that I needed to go to the branch and I wouldn't be so annoyed. ![]()
