A birthday present

"This silver pendant can be interpreted either as a Christian cross or a Thor's hammer. The beast's head incorporated into the pendant is unusual for amulets of this type. Found near Fossi, Iceland. Photograph (photo on left/top) copyright by the National Museum of Iceland."

More about Thor's Hammer.
More.
"The Thor's Hammer is one of the most widely known Heathen symbols. It is worn by many modern Heathens as a public declaration of their Troth (their trust in the Old Gods). Thor's Hammer is primarily a protective talisman. It symbolises Thor's might to protect human kind and the Earth.
Other meanings of the Hammer of Thor are lightning, fertility, holiness, and sanctification. Some modern Heathen groups use blessed Hammers to hallow ritual space in all directions before rites. A well known historic use of the Hammer was to place it in the lap of a bride to bless her with fertility."
