carter and his african hottie dumped the kidlets ashes over the water and luca tracked down his sweetie, and I think got her to come back to chicago with him...forget what else, but it was like last season's finale.

Well, you know about the car going into the river. Dr. Chen was the one shot in the leg. The kid they were taking home broke his neck but was still alive. Dr. Pratt seemed ok and was able to swim out with Dr. Chen. Because the kid was paralyzed, Dr. Pratt couldn't get him out, so the rescuers had to get him. He ended up dying. Pratt thought he was ok but ended up having a skull fracture and had to be rushed to surgery. He's ok, though.

Of course, they were taken to County, and because no one else was on staff, Dr. Weaver had to move up Abby's residency by a few hours so she could help take care of Chen & Pratt. Neela (is that her name?) returned from the hospital where she was going to do her residency and was hoping to talk to Abby about her decision to leave medicine. She wanted to help out with Chen/Pratt/the kid, but Dr. Weaver wouldn't let her since she wasn't insured to be practicing medicine at the hospital any longer. She ended up suturing the boy after he died before his mother got there.

Dr. Carter saw that his girlfriend (Kim?) had packed her bags to go back home (was it the Congo?), and before she left, they took their baby's ashes and dropped them into the river. He asked her to marry him, and she said that while she does love him, she needs time. They didn't show her leaving, but it was pretty much assumed that she would be leaving afterall.

Dr. Weaver kept getting phonecalls from her wife's family saying they needed to talk to her, but she ignored the messages. She was back in court for a hearing and the brother came up to her asking why she hadn't returned their phonecalls. She kept trying to get away saying she had nothing to say to him or his family. Then they switched to the courtroom and the judge confirming that the family had decided to give Kari full custody, but because of her work schedule, the grandparents would be the baby's caregivers. They would have visitation rights and would be able to spend time with him during the holidays. They said all they wanted was to have an active role in the baby's life. I fully admit I was crying during this scene!!

Sam and her kid left and ended up in some motel in the middle of nowhere. The kid called Luka when Sam wasn't around and told him where they were. Luka left in the middle of his shift and went after them. He convinced Sam to go back to Chicago and let him help them get through things. She said she wasn't used to trusting people but would try to trust him.

Dr. Lewis is still out on maternity leave and wasn't there at all.

How's that for a synopsis? smile
