Grishka update

| pet stuff | | Comments (4)

The vet appointment took longer than I expected.

I got to bring a pee sample in with me (which is dutifully got from a puddle on the floor while the cats watched me as if I was a crazy woman). It turns out he has a lot of crystals in his urine. And might have an infection too. He gets to take 1/2 of an Orbax pill once a day (I've never pilled a cat without help) for 14 days. Wish me luck. And we're changing their diet (from Flint River to Science Diet CD) slowly.

Tonight when I got home, there was one very happy kitty and a new puddle in the bathroom. Tomorrow I'll set up the water fountain I got for them and the second litter box. And hope for the best. Poor guy.

Please read up on Science Diet. I know many people who feel it contributed to their pet's demise.

I'm *definitely* not happy about putting them on it. So I figured I'd switch them to it and then find something else (hopefully from Flint River) and switch them back over to that.

Thanks for the reminder though. I'll do research tonight instead of putting it off until the weekend.

I've had really good luck on Science Diet with both of my cats, and T-Cat is WAY sensitive to foods. What causes crystals in the urine?

Yeah, what causes crystals in urine? Does that mean peeing is painful?

I had to pill my kids last week. They weren't very happy with me.
