Webhosts, part 2
Bunches of good suggestions. I've been looking over hosts for a bit tonight. I have a few questions outstanding with hosts which will help narrow things down.
Pair, Media Temple and TLC look pricey for the amount of disk space I am currently using. Voxel thought I should be a reseller for the space I use.
That leaves: CyberPixels, BlogMoxie (no SSH), Liquid Web and Text Drive. [Plus some new ones to research this weekend.]
Note: Blogomania is also a good host. I was with them for ages but moved to get all of my sites under one umbrella. ![]()
SSH is not an optional feature for me. I'm much faster using vi and unix commands to set up new sites than Notepad and FTP. Plus I like being able to play with scripts, etc. I currently have 5 domains. I might drop one of them, but I'm not ready to give up the others. I'm using about 600 M of disk space right now and ~4 G of transfer. In addition to my blog databases, I also have one or two around for me to play with. I don't care at all how many millions of email addresses I can have since I use Gmail and a friend's server for mail.
I'm thinking that CyberPixels would be perfect for a bunch of friends who I got signed up with BlogHosts.
So that's where we stand. At least I have some time before I need to move everything (except that work is going to be crazy-busy until the holidays).
[If you have a webhost you like, feel free to mention them and I'll add them to my comparison list. I currently have one site with Blogomania but am looking to consolidate things at long last.]

I'm *very* happy with HostingMatters (hostingmatters.com). They've answered all of my questions and had me up running very quickly. Thus far, it's the best host I've found, and I've used my fair share! Good luck!
I could of sworn I heard from users that Cyberpixels wasn't too good. Have you searched through the Webhosting Talk forums to find out about them?
Carla - Good to know . I'll go check forums this weekend too!
Catching up on my blog reading and thought I should mention Mindstorm Hosting (http://mindstormhosting.com) which hosts my online photo album.
Jim Williams, the owner, is a good guy and IMO has provided solid and fast service.
He has packages listed on his site but is willing to work out something to fit your needs if the packages wont work for you.
I left you a link for Cyberwurx blog hosting in your other thread. cyberwurx.com/blog.html -- hopefully they are on your list to compare. Other bloggers that they host include my blog (makeyougohmm.com) and a bigger group blog: blogcritics.org. Some others are starting to move over there as well.
Oh and forgot to add: you actually *like* vi? LOL That's cool, I'm just teasing. I like using SSH as well but not for editing files directly. I use AE for editing cron stuff and other files.
Best of luck to you in your hosting move
Busy busy research day for me! And yes, I like vi. I'm an odd one. But I already have admitted that before.
New smile:
Let me know what kind of price you're looking for. I can host your sites. Miss Carla is a customer of mine - for over 2 years now (I own a web hosting company - 3 years running). She's had no complaints. If you want one on one support, and don't want to wait around for hours when a tech finally gets to your support ticket... look no further
I'm sure Carla would recommend me as well. Let me know if you're interested!
While you've outgrown the majority of the Blogomania plans (although we do offer custom plans too), 98% of all bloggers do just fine with our "Basic" plan, plus we offer SSH. So you know, if you want to link to Blogomania, that would be cool. On top of that, we are performing transfers for BlogHost clients *and* giving them the first month of hosting for *free* to try to help ease the pain of what they are going through...
