2004 was a tough year. It wasn't a horrible year, but man, it sure had its moments. I'm looking forward to 2005 and all of the promise that it brings.

So here's that year summary meme thing... (last seen at ThreeThings').

  1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before? Stepped outside of my comfort zone and met lots of new people. Got to be friends with my brother. Sold a house.
  2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't make 'em. I try to work on being a better person and whatnot, but those aren't specific to the new year.
  3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Not close, but a few people at work had babies this year.
  4. Did anyone close to you die? Nope.
  5. What countries did you visit? Boston. Oh, that's not really a different country, eh?
  6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004? Less debt would be nice. A cat that doesn't pee on the floor.
  7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory and why? There are a few.
  8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Being a wonderful aunt to a sweet child. And remaining good friends with Brad during our divorce.
  9. What was your biggest failure? Having to get Peri a new home.
  10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Just the usual allergies and asthma stuff.
  11. What was the best thing you bought? My iPod.
  12. Whose behavior merited celebration? All of my friends (both local and non-local) and family.
  13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Mine sometimes.
  14. Where did most of your money go? Bills and travelling to Boston.
  15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? When my niece called me "Eisa" for the first time.
  16. What song will always remind you of 2004? Evanescence.
  17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
    • happier or sadder? Happier overall.
    • thinner or fatter? 'bout the same. [Working on the thinner part this year though.]
    • richer or poorer? About the same.
  18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Visiting with more family and friends.
  19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Obsessing about work.
  20. How will you be spending Christmas? I was in Boston with my brother and his family, our dad and stepmom, some cool friends and a slew of my in-laws.
  21. Did you fall in love in 2004? Nope.
  22. How many one-night stands? None.
  23. What was your favorite TV program? Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars.
  24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? I don't really have people who I dislike enough to hate.
  25. What was the best book you read? There were tons of them.
  26. What was your greatest musical discovery? Dresdon Dolls.
  27. What did you want and get? Meeting new and fun people.
  28. What did you want and not get? A cat that doesn't pee on the floor.
  29. What was your favorite film of this year? Garden State and The Incredibles.
  30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Had dinner with friends. 40.
  31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Not being so far away from family.
  32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004? Comfortable.
  33. What kept you sane? Them, them, friends and family. And the meds. ;-)
  34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? None?
  35. What political issue stirred you the most? Gay marriage.
  36. Who did you miss? A few people are on this list.
  37. Who was the best new person you met? All of those shiny fun people at Arisia reg desk.
  38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004. Believe in yourself.
