JP Morgan Chase vs WellsFargo

| daily misc | | Comments (2)

I'm sure I'll laugh about this once I get the S10 title, but for now, it's annoying as hell.

7/9 - NM guy and I go to the bank (WellsFargo) and deposit gobs of money into my bank account. I wire the amount owed on the S10 loan to Chase. That completed, he writes me a check for the balance of what he agreed to on the truck purchase and takes the S10 back to NM with him.

7/11 - The wire is actually sent today. According to Chase, it should be 3 days until they process it and my loan is paid off. Plus 5 days to process and send the title.

7/13 - I called Chase and confirmed that they indeed got the money.

7/18 - I call the automated line and find out that it's not been processed against my account and call Chase. They say that they wired WellsFargo a few times asking for my account number so they could credit the money. I offer to tell them the info and was told that it has to come from WF. Fine. I call WF and ask them to wire the info to Chase. I also ask how come they hadn't called to tell me that the wire had an issue and the helpful woman said that as far as she knew, the wire had no issues (otherwise they would have called me). Ok, whatever. I get a call later in the day confirming that this has been completed.

7/19 - I call the Chase automated line and the payment is still not credited. I call the Chase wire line. It turns out that whatever the woman at WF did, it wasn't what Chase needed and Chase still had my money floating around in bank-limbo.

At this point, I'm annoyed but there's really no point to yell at anyone. So I asked the woman at Chase if there was some way I could get out of the middle of all this since whatever communications I was providing weren't enough to get this straightened out and get the title cleared for me. The woman at Chase said she understood and gave me her name and number to give to someone at WF. The woman at WF took the info and said she'd call her wire department (and then call Chase and also call me back to let me know what was going on) because she could see the notation that said an addendum had been sent yesterday.

So cross your fingers for me. I'd love to get this settled already so the "5 days to clear the title" could start.

Update: The woman from WF called me back at dinner to tell me that she confirmed with the wire department that they sent the wire. Tomorrow she'll confirm that it was received. I'll call Chase (because the number I gave her would ring a few times and then disconnect -- could be that I mixed up the digits) to see if they've gotten it. The woman at WF said we'd get this straightened out between the two of us and she'd talk to me tomorrow.
