Ren Fest rings
I bought two rings last time we went to the Ren Fest. One is a gorgeous opal. I've always wanted an opal ring (I'm not sure if it's a white or black opal - the colors are deep and rich). The other is a carved ring with a malachite cabochon. The malachite ring had to be resized and I just got it last night. I'd forgotten how pretty the band and stone were.
I'll try to take a picture of them with my camera this weekend because the Treo won't do them justice.
Random bits about the stones:
Malachite - is an inspirational stone used to aid eyesight and visionary powers by raising hopes and expectations. It helps to combat fear by understanding its source, and assists us to back free from limitations by increasing courage and determination. It is also good for arthritis and is thought to attract prosperity. Malachite is an opaque green striped stone, and is associated with the birth sign Sagittarius.
In ancient times opal was accepted as a symbol of faithfulness and confidence. Opals are very powerful in ritual magic. Since a quality opal contains every color of every other birthstone, it can be used or charged with all the energies and powers of the other stones combined and can be used in place of any birthstone for spells, rituals or other magical needs. Opals have been linked to invisibility and astral projection. and have been used to recall past lives (each color supposedly represents a past life). It has reputed healing properties, especially to increase mental capacities such as creative imagination and other unused powers of the mind.
The other ring is a carnelian. Carnelian has been revered for its healing, spiritual and creative qualities. This stone balances creativity and mental processes. It's useful when undertaking any project because it stimulates analytical capabilities and precision. This stone protects against rage, envy, and fear. It helps one banish sorrow. The message of carnelian is that since one is "love" there is nothing to do but offer that love and then the love you give returns to you. Another example of "what goes around comes around".... Carnelian is an energy booster. It helps the insecure person to find strength within them so they can come into their own. It is said to increase the appetite.
