"My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult
The people in this book are so real, so human. I cried on and off throughout the entire book. The story is told from the POV of 7 of the main characters (using a few different fonts/typefaces to help differentiate between the stories).
From amazon:
Anna was genetically engineered to be a perfect match for her cancer-ridden older sister. Since birth, the 13-year-old has donated platelets, blood, her umbilical cord, and bone marrow as part of her family's struggle to lengthen Kate's life. Anna is now being considered as a kidney donor in a last-ditch attempt to save her 16-year-old sister. As this compelling story opens, Anna has hired a lawyer to represent her in a medical emancipation suit to allow her to have control over her own body.
Not everyone on amazon liked the book, but it seems like they agreed that this story will definitely make you think. And it did that for sure.

Jodi Picoult does not write a bad book. Every single book of hers that I've read (and I've read all but her first and her most recent that is still in hardcover) are excellent (and, amazingly, different).
Jodi rocks!
I loved that book, and every other book of hers that I've read. She tells amazing stories.
