Katstuff
Last night, we (my sweetie stayed over because he had a doctor's appt and needed watching afterwards) took Katya to the animal ER. She threw up a bunch of food late afternoon and then was doing the spit up thing. Then she was having trouble crapping and making horribly sad sounds. Enough was enough and we took her in. She looks bright (healthy, not lethargic, etc) but they're going to keep her overnight to watch her... and give her meds. And take Xrays in the morning. She showed no signs of tenderness or other discomfort.
I just heard back from the vet... She's still perky and whatnot this morning/early afternoon but her Xrays are suspicious (meaning that the vets think that there may be an obstruction but it's not clearly showing up on the Xrays. So she'll get an ultrasound and they'll report back. She didn't throw up after we brought her in last night but she still has a slightly elevated temperature.
If the ultrasound is clear, they'll give her some food and see how she does with that. If not, then we talk about surgery.
Poor Katya. ![]()
Update: The ultrasound was clear so they're going to try to get her to eat (she's really nervous being there which is pretty normal behavior for her) and monitor her s'more.
Update #2: She's going to stay at the vet's because she hasn't really eaten today and I don't want to panic if she eats and gets sick again. Better for her to be there where the caretakers are. Hopefully I'll get her back tomorrow though!
Update #3: She's finally eaten a whole bowl of food. I'm going to go get her shortly after 2pm (when I finish my work day) and bring her home. The vet should call if she gets sick before then though.
She's going to be on antibiotics and Pepcid AC for a few days because of the elevated temperature and to treat an upset stomach, but otherwise she really does seem fine.
Damn expensive scare. I'm bringing the paperwork for my pet insurance so I can submit the bills (oy!) and get some of that money back.

I'm glad she's fine!
Steve
Worried. How is she doing now?
