A new tool
For Arisia this year, we're going to use a different CMS tool (last year we used Mambo and it was good in some ways but mostly a pain in the ass). This year we've been testing out Drupal because it has some great community features and when you're putting together a SciFi con, community counts.
Tonight I finally figured out the taxonomy and access control stuff. I'm pretty pleased. I looked at what a friend was doing and poked around at some things and it looks pretty simple to do. I want to see if I can hide menu items based on the roles, but that'll wait until over the weekend. (I'd put controls around a block that allowed it to be hidden but then it's using the wrong style for the menu when it's displayed and it's not formatted all pretty but I was pleased that I figured out how to put that together too.)
I also worked on a secret Movable Type project for a friend and I'm going to be setting up my new site soon as well (Movable Type of course!). Plus there's some neat stuff I want to test for work so I'm plenty busy these days. Just the way I like it. (It makes for a much happier brain when I get to dig around and learn new things.)
