Heat, hot water, a/c
An update of sorts...
- Thank goodness the heat spell broke. Our poor portable a/c unit in the office can not cope with the heat, 2-3 computers, the router, the Comcast modem, etc all at the same time.
- The lack of hot water? Resolved. It turned out that someone turned off the master switch to our oil burner after Saturday's power outage. My roommate and I didn't realize that the switch in question was ours (we have our own oil tank and the other 3 apartments share one) and never look at it. The landlord also didn't notice. Now we know. And there will be a biiiiig sign next to it soon.
- Yay for the return of not-ice-cold showers!
- I slept in the office last night (we have a bed in there too) with all of the machines off and the a/c was able to cool the room down to 75. That's good enough for me so we'll be swapping things around. My room will become the room that is currently the office and vice versa.
- This is also good because my window a/c unit (cheapo one picked up at the grocery store for $99) was able to cool my room to 72 when it was not set to the lowest temp and had 2 computers on all the time so I have great hopes for a much cooler office/guest room.

We'll find out how good my A/C window unit really is over the next few days, when we're set to hit 100 degrees for at least a day or two.
Ugh.
You have my sympathies!
My house rarely gets cool. It's a rather old house and with the heat outside it's a bit warm inside.
TJ - Where are you, geographically (roughly -- you don't have to give specifics if you don't wanna)?
