Dentist visit
I had an appointment to get a filling done yesterday. The dentist also fixed up my bite guard so it's a full upper guard (covers all teeth) and has the ramp like the NTI guards have. So now, no headaches in the morning from grinding my teeth!
While he was working on my teeth, I remember hearing him say "don't fall asleep now" to me. I knew I was feeling drowsy (overcast day, laying down with my eyes closed, classical music in the office), but didn't realize it was that close to napping. ![]()
He also mentioned that I am likely a delta cycle grinder, which is impressive but also probably damaging than if I ground my teeth at some other point in the sleep cycle.
Delta sleep is our deepest sleep, the point when our brain waves are least like waking. Consequently, it is most difficult stage in which to wake sleepers, and when they are awakened they are usually sleepy and disoriented. Interestingly, delta sleep is when sleep walking and sleep talking is most likely to occur.
I'm wondering if a sleep study might be a good thing at this point, to confirm this.
Mostly I wish I could figure out how to not do this. ![]()

Your dentist sounds awesome!
My first ex-husband used to sleepwalk...and often he'd fall asleep after sex, i.e., he was nekkid. One time I found him outside our second floor apartment on the third floor landing...nekkid as a jaybird!
From a former grinder to a present grinder -- I think the only way to stop grinding is to get rid of the major stresses in your life. Also aging helps, I haven't had this problem in years.

Luckily, I'm not a sleep-walker, but Scott has been known to do it from time to time.
