The holidays and my brain
I used to work in retail. I was the assistant manager of a Hallmark store. I worked there for about 6 years total. Anyway, I loved the holidays. I didn't love the music that started playing way too soon in the season, but I loved how clean and stocked the store was. I loved how efficient we had to be with our time because the store was busy and we had a larger than usual staff to juggle. I enjoyed restocking displays and seeing the different areas of the store come together.
I want to go to the mall and just walk around. To see the hustle and bustle. Part of me wants to be part of it, but that isn't reasonable.
Yes, there was a lot about working retail that sucked, but it ended up being a pretty good job for me - active body, often active brain (not the same kind of active brain stuff that I do nowadays), interacting with people, ordering stuff.
My brain is a strange and amusing place.

I hear ya. I used to work in a card/balloon store/craft store/yankee candle type of place on the cape in the summers and I loved it. Nights, weekends and holidays though....I did not love that so much.
If you can believe it, I worked in one of those temporary Christmas decoration stores...LOVED it!
I worked as a waitress and in UK chain store - Marks and Spencers. Both jobs I regularly miss. Mainly for the movement, being stuck behind a desk all day is HARD! :-)
