It was a lot of fun
The rafting was fun. The whole weekend was pretty damn good. We even rode a class 5.1 rapid. And no one fell out (accidentally; some of the guys jumped out on purpose). I'm glad I went.
We also went hiking in the rain. It was a drizzle when we started, but by the time we got back to the van, it was full blown rain. That was also fun once we put the more serious bug spray on and stopped providing the mosquitoes with such ample feasting grounds.
We swapped cars around a bit on the drive home. ifuonlyknew and coorr took my car. Chris and Chris took coorr's car. majes and I went in his car with his son and his bro. We had the most driving/car time ahead of us - we left the cabin at noon and didn't get to Malden until 10 pm. At which point, I got my car keys and headed back to Woburn.
I unpacked my stuff under the watchful eye of NSPy. Was startled by a sudden roommate (sudden in appearance, not in roommmateness). Plugged in my poor, dead phone. Showered (had to wash the bug spray off before getting into my bed with its very clean sheets) and then passed out until 9 am.
Now I need to get some coffee and finish going through email. I work from 1-5, but from home. Whew.
Anyway, Maine is lovely. The cabins were nice (not enough hot water). The rafting was fun. The hiking was enjoyable, if damp. The drive was loooooong. But I'd do it all again.
Reminder notes to self: wear better socks for hiking so you don't get blisters; bring 2 bathing suits so you don't have to raft in a damp one if you go in a jacuzzi the night before; bring dry clothes to leave on the bus for the 1/2 point of the rafting trip; don't feed the mosquitoes.
