iTunes: iWin!

| daily misc | | Comments (0)

Original configuration: desktop computer with external drive that contained ~60G of music
Next config: Music moved to desktop computer and external drive put aside
Current config: Music moved to laptop with the hopes of retiring the desktop computer soon

In each of these transitions, I've lost some music (to xcopy errors). I guess some of the files were corrupted. Who knows. Anyway, on this last transition, iTunes on the laptop said I had about the right number of songs, but looking more closely, I was seeing things multiple times.

Yesterday morning, I unmapped the connection between my laptop and desktop and then deleted the songs listed in iTunes (but not the actual files). Then I crossed my fingers and told it to scan for my music.

When I got home last night, I had a pristine list of ~13,500 songs (about the right number) and none of those "we can't find this file" indicators.

Yay for the return of all of my music. grin
