Need some help with PmWiki

| techie stuff | | Comments (1)
So I'm trying to set up a PmWiki wiki for a friend and not really understanding how Categories work or maybe I want to use something else but don't realize it.

We have a lot of content and I want to give it some structure (and have helpful breadcrumbs too).

Example:
Main area 1
Sub area a (in Category Main1)
Sub area b (in Category Main1)
More info i (in Category Main1 and Sub area b)
More info ii (in Category Main1 and Sub area b)
Sub area c (in Category Main1)

Main area 2
Sub area x (in Category Main 2)
More info iii (in Category Main 2 and Sub area x)
More info iv (in Category Main 2 and Sub area x)
Sub area y (in Category Main 2)
Sub area z (in Category Main 2)
More info v (in Category Main 2 and Sub area z)
More info vi (in Category Main 2 and Sub area z)
etc

If you're on a page in "More info iii", I want the breadcrumb to look like:

Main area 2 > Sub area x > More info iii > Name of this page

And I want you to be able to click on Sub area x and see that there's also a More info iv section.

For some reason, all of the pages are under Main, and not Main area 1. Is that right? Shouldn't they get put in their appropriate category group?

Sitemapper almost seems to do what I want... but not quite.

Anyway, I'm obviously confused and could use any help available. smile

(LJ went slightly nuts on me when I tried to comment, so here goes...)

I don't know about PmWiki, but MediaWiki uses "categories" a bit like LJ/WordPress/etc use "tags." What's worse, the list of categories into which a page belongs show up at the very bottom, so you can't really do a "such and such in category blah blah blee" in-line like you're doing without using the cumbersome markup involved in listing a category page in the main body.

(Yes, I have a wiki, of sorts.)
